Artist Statement
My work is driven by a desire to dig deep into myself. There I often find my imagination running wild, inspired by astronauts and dinosaurs, outer galaxies and inner consciousness, the history of this planet and universe, and the stories that drive us to change and be better humans. The paintings and prints I create are based in realism and have a tendency towards fantastic surrealism. In each work there is a connection to something personal in my own life experience that finds its way to the surface.
Biography
Brian has worked as an independent artist and illustrator in the Roaring Fork Valley since 2010. He holds a BA in fine art and supplements his time creating paintings, illustrations, engraved prints, and graphic design. He’s been a resident at Studio for Arts + Works (SAW) in Carbondale since 2013 and has worked at Carbondale Arts as the R2 Gallery Manager since 2014. Brian also co-founded the Roaring Fork Drawing Club in the fall of 2017, and always has a sketchbook when he travels.
